How mist on an outside condensor ?

Advises to fog an air condenser?

refroidissement-aerocondenseur4

In periods of high heat, and particularly during heat waves, the refrigeration and air conditioning systems are under great stress, they even become undersized due to the reduced efficiency of the heat exchange.

The ultimate risk is then the High Pressure shutdown, this safety is vital to protect compressors and exchangers from irreversible breakage, but deprives the cold production installation. This, especially in the summer period, is a real catastrophe.

Teddington solution :

In order to improve the efficiency of the air-condensers, and especially to avoid the High Pressure cut-off, TEDDINGTON proposes a simple and effective system: the cooling of the air-condensers by misting.

With the help of the TEDDINGTON high pressure pump, water at 80 bars is sprayed in a micro-mist (10 to 15 μm) against the flow of air entering the exchanger.

The immediate and complete evaporation of the mist allows a cooling of the incoming air.

The exchange temperature of the air cooler then drops to 10 °C, or even 12 °C in periods of high heat. The efficiency of the system increases and the power consumption drops immediately.

A connection to the mains water supply is recommended, but softened water can also be used if available on site. Indeed, the mist is completely evaporated before entering the air-condenser, which eliminates any risk of scale deposits on the exchanger.

, the regulation of the system is carried out in parallel to the last fan, via a HP pressure switch, or via an external thermostat.

A technician will nevertheless be required in the autumn to purge the external circuits.

The advantages of the TEDDINGTON condenser cooling system :

- Suppression of untimely HP cuts. - Lower load on the unit, resulting in longer compressor life.

- Energy consumption of the refrigeration unit reduced by up to 30% thanks to the improved efficiency of the refrigeration circuit.

- Positive return on investment in 2 to 3 years maximum.

- Fixing accessories and tools supplied in misting kit.

- Simple and quick installation.

Sizing & Installation :

- Provide 2 to 3 nozzles per m 2 of exchange surface in general.

-The mist must never condense on the fins, for optimal efficiency, the air must always be cooled before entering the exchanger.

- V-shaped condenser: Place the 30-40 cm nozzles of the condenser at mid-height and diffuse against the current.
- W-shaped condenser: Place nozzles in the lower, central position, diffusion upwards.
- Flat condenser: Place nozzles in low position on the perimeter, diffusion upwards.

REGULATORY INFORMATION

Misters on air-cooled condensers do not fall under the declaration system under heading No 2921 of the nomenclature of installations classified for environmental protection, in particular because they do not contain stagnant water, are provided with automatic hose emptying at each shutdown, and because no aerosols are entrained in the air flow.

They should therefore not be declared.
