How to dehumidify and heat an indoor pool ?

Tips for dehumidifying, heating and ventilating an interior

comment-deshumidifier-piscine

The question of dehumidification of an indoor swimming pool must be addressed from the very beginning of the project, just like the choice of the type of pool, water treatment or lighting for example. The comfort of the users and the convenience of using the indoor pool are at stake.

In fact, a 30 m² swimming pool evaporates nearly 4 litres of water per hour, which is the equivalent of 10 people having an intense sporting activity , such as dancing or cycling.

All this humidity is found in the air of the pool and the house, sometimes reaching 80% or even 90%. It then condenses on the coldest windows and walls. It then runs down to the floor, forming puddles.

- When using the swimming pool, the windows are covered with droplets, blocking visibility. Air saturated with humidity becomes uncomfortable, especially by feeling suffocated and cold.

- In the medium term, mould and foul odours form, creating new discomfort.

- In the long term, it is the structure of the building that is damaged, as moisture seeps through the coatings and condenses in the thickness of the walls.

In the summer, this solution is simple and very economical, as long as you don't have to be away from home. During the rest of the year, it requires strict organisation, but above all, it creates cold draughts in the pool which are detrimental to the health of the occupants, and forces the heating to work at full capacity. Energy costs are therefore high.

The best solution: the air dehumidifier with integrated heating

conseils-deshumidifier-piscine

The windows can remain closed, the pool can remain open, the air remains healthy, the building structure remains viable and the windows remain clear and clean.

Also, users can go away with peace of mind: the pool dehumidifier takes care of everything.

The dehumidifier for indoor swimming pools works by recycling, thus avoiding the entry of a large quantity of cold air into the indoor swimming pool, and allows energy recycling: the operation of the dehumidifier for swimming pools generates heating naturally, and thus contributes to the comfort of the occupants, and saves part of the heating budget.

For example, for a 30 m² swimming pool, the dehumidifier produces about 1500 W of natural heating when it dehumidifies, thanks to its integrated heat pump, it is an additional saving and an important gain in comfort.

What air renewal for an indoor swimming pool?

The swimming pool dehumidifier maintains the relative humidity at a comfortable and pleasant level, between 55 and 60% RH, but should not make you forget the hygienic air renewal (also called CMV).

It is important to provide about 20 m3/h of fresh air per occupant, i.e. 20 m3/h of air from outside, entering the pool volume and then extracted to the outside via a fan.

This ventilation brings healthy, oxygenated air into the pool room, and extracts CO2 generated by the occupants, as well as odours from water treatment, food, tobacco and other air pollutants.

The ideal and ecological solution is the double flow ventilation for swimming pools, and the most economical solution to purchase is the installation of an air extractor (fan).

Please note, however, that a standard double-flow CMV cannot be used for an indoor pool as it is not designed for large variations in humidity and temperature, nor is it protected against the humid and aggressive environment of an indoor pool.

An indoor swimming pool is commonly heated to 28-30 degrees, 10 degrees higher than in a house.

In order to guarantee a high level of comfort, and to avoid unnecessary expense, Teddington recommends a greater thickness of insulation than that of your house, especially on the ceiling or roof of the indoor swimming pool.

This insulation must be specific to damp rooms, such as bathrooms, for example.

For example, glass wool or standard plasterboard should not be used, but rather high-density compressed polystyrene insulation and water-repellent plasterboard.

What joinery for an indoor swimming pool?

The choice of a dehumidifier with heating for a quality indoor pool, such as the Teddington dehumidifier, must go hand in hand with the choice of quality woodwork.

Indeed, even perfectly controlled air at 29°C and 55% RH can generate condensation on poor quality joinery.

Teddington advises for your indoor swimming pool triple glazing on the glass and double thermal break on the joinery - so your comfort will be perfect, even during the harshest period of winter.

The wall-mounted pool dehumidifier can be mounted directly in the pool room, using the supplied anchor bar, on a solid wall. Depending on the model, the wall-mounted pool dehumidifier can weigh between 60 and 90 kg. It must be installed more than 2 metres from the pool.

It is distinguished by its harmonious and elegant design. The TEDDINGTON pool dehumidifier CDP 40 / 50 / 70 is the most efficient in its category, it incorporates the latest low energy consumption ventilation technology, and a galvanised steel construction with a specific paint baked inside and outside, the most durable to date. It has complete sound and heat insulation. The dehumidifier has an epoxy coating on the cooling circuit, the fans are also treated against the aggressive environment of the spa or indoor pool.

The TEDDINGTON CDP 40 / 50 / 70 swimming pool room dehumidifier is fully automatic, very quiet and controlled by an integrated electronic hygrostat. An indicator light on the front panel clearly indicates the operating mode. Its maintenance is simple, just remove the front panel to clean the air filter.

The TEDDINGTON room dehumidifier for swimming pools CDP 40 / 50 / 70 permanently filters the air and can be equipped, as an option, with water or electric heating, to ensure the thermal comfort of the room.

Teddington recommends the dehumidifier for an indoor swimming pool for private individuals only.

Also known as a built-in dehumidifier, this solution allows a more elegant final result because the dehumidifier is not visible in the indoor pool, only the two grilles are visible, they can also be painted for a better architectural integration.

The built-in pool dehumidifier TEDDINGTON CDP 40T / 50T / 70T has the same characteristics as the room dehumidifier.

Teddington recommends the built-in dehumidifier for swimming pools with a public pool up to about 30 m² of water, or 40 m² for a domestic pool.

The ductable dehumidifier is the preferred solution for a top-of-the-range indoor pool or a public swimming pool. The integration of the ventilation in the volume of the room can indeed be invisible.

The air is sucked in through a network of ducts and grilles, filtered, dehumidified, heated, possibly mixed with fresh air, and then blown uniformly into the indoor pool area.

An hygrostat is placed in the volume and continuously measures the humidity and then gives the command to the pool dehumidifier to start. This hygrostat can also be placed on the pool air return ductwork. The dehumidifier for ducted pools must ventilate permanently.

As with other types of swimming pool dehumidifiers, the ducted dehumidifier can be equipped with hot water heating (connected to a gas boiler or a high-temperature heat pump) and thus becomes the main heating mode for indoor swimming pools.

As every project is different, Teddington offers many different sizes and installation possibilities, in order to offer you the TEDDINGTON pool dehumidifier with a range of sizes and installation possibilities, so that you can choose the right TEDDINGTON pool dehumidifier for your situation.

deshumidificateur-spa-piscine-double-flux

The TEDDINGTON double flow ductable dehumidifier for swimming pools DAN'X 1 / 2 / 3 is the perfect solution for dehumidifying an indoor swimming pool: the most ecological, the most economical to use, and the most practical.

This dehumidifier uses fresh air to dehumidify, not a refrigeration circuit, except in the case of high humidity.

Its daily operation is thus virtually free: the outside air passes over a heat exchanger, then over a second heat exchanger, where it crosses the return air from the indoor pool, thus recovering 95% of the extracted heat, and then the dust is filtered out. The air can then return to the pool.

Thanks to its integrated air/air heat pump, the TEDDINGTON DAN'X 1 / 2 / 3 double flow ductable dehumidifier for swimming pools provides a high heating capacity, which is generally sufficient in mid-season to maintain a comfortable temperature in the indoor pool.

The TEDDINGTON double flow ductable dehumidifier for swimming pools DAN'X 1 / 2 / 3 equipped with 2 variable speed EC fans, this new ventilation technology is very economical and quieter. It also allows the air flow rate to be precisely adjusted to avoid unnecessary over-ventilation.

The temperature and humidity sensors are integrated in the unit, which, thanks to an intelligent control algorithm, guarantees you the best possible comfort with the lowest energy consumption.

In addition, The TEDDINGTON double-flow ductable dehumidifier for DAN'X 1 / 2 / 3 spa is equipped with the "free cooling" function, i.e. the ability to cool the spa room via the intake of a large quantity of outside air that is cooler than the inside air.

This solution is particularly recommended for dehumidifying a high-end and ecological swimming pool, or for a therapeutic pool, which requires a lower air temperature than that of the pool water.
