What is HSS steel?
HSS steel, or High-Speed Steel, is a high-alloy tool steel used, for example, in machining tools such as taps or milling cutters, as well as in tools such as saws, turning chisels, or for cold forming. Tools used for drilling and cutting steel and iron must withstand high stresses while also being precise and efficient.
High-Speed Steel (HSS) is distinguished by its high heat resistance, with continuous machining temperatures of up to 600°C, which clearly distinguishes it from cold-work steel, which can be used up to 200°C, and hot-work steel, with application temperatures of 200–400°C. High-speed steel (HSS) is distinguished not only by its heat resistance, but also by its good toughness, high wear resistance, and hot hardness (red-hot hardness).
